PEPERO DAY – One of Korea’s Sweetest Traditions🍫💕

Every year on November 11th, Korea celebrates one of its sweetest and most heartwarming traditions — Pepero Day (빼빼로데이)! It’s the day when people exchange chocolate-coated biscuit sticks as playful tokens of love, friendship, and appreciation.

The Story Behind Pepero Day

Legend has it that this fun tradition began when high school students wished each other to be as slim as Pepero sticks. Over time, this quirky gesture evolved into a joyful celebration of affection and small delights (plus lots of tasty snacks!). Today, thanks to the K-wave, Pepero Day has traveled far beyond Korea’s borders.

So if you haven’t grabbed some Pepero yet — why not make your own at home?

Here’s an easy and fun recipe to try!

How to Make Pretty Pepero at Home

🍭 Ingredients:

  • Breadsticks / Pretzel rods / Wafer rolls

  • Chocolate bits (dark, milk, or white)

  • Toppings of your choice: sliced almonds, hazelnuts, nuts, strawberry flakes, sprinkles, etc.

🍫 Step 1: Melt the Chocolate

– Fill a saucepan with 2–3 inches of water and bring it to a gentle simmer.

– Place a heatproof bowl on top (make sure it doesn’t touch the water).

– Add the chocolate and stir as it melts.

– Turn off the heat when only a few unmelted pieces remain — they’ll melt with the residual heat.

🍡 Step 2: Coat the Sticks with Melted Chocolate

Step 3: Decorate!
