Quick, Simple Yubuchobap (유부초밥) Recipe

Yubuchobap (유부초밥) is Korea’s version of Inari Sushi soft, savory tofu pockets stuffed with seasoned rice and whatever toppings you love. What makes it so addictive is the balance: the slight sweetness of the fried seasoned tofu, the nutty sesame aroma, and that gentle tang that keeps you reaching for another piece… and another.

The best part? Yubuchobap is super easy to make. With a handful of simple ingredients, you can easily make this comforting Korean favorite right at home.

👩‍🍳 How to Make Yubuchobap 👩‍🍳

🛒 Ingredients (for 1–2 servings)

  • 1 pack of Yubuchobap Kit (includes 14 fried tofu pockets, a packet of mixed vegetables seasoning, and a packet of sweet vinegar sauce).
  • 2 cups of warm sticky rice (short-grain or glutinous rice works best)
  • 1tbsp sesame oil
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Toasted sesame seeds or crushed seaweed for garnish

  • Optional: Finely chopped, cooked vegetables of your choice (carrot, cucumber, bell pepper, broccoli, etc.)
  • Optional: Toppings to your likings (bulgogi, buldak, tuna mayo, smoked salmon, etc.)

Step 1: Season the Rice

  • Mix sugar, rice vinegar, and salt together in a small bowl. Microwave for about 30 seconds to help everything dissolve.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm rice, the seasoning mix from the kit, and your prepared vinegar mixture.

  • Drizzle in the sesame oil, add chopped vegetables, and mix gently with a rice paddle or spoon. (You don’t have to use all the seasoning packets — adjust to your taste.)

Step 2: Fill the Tofu Pockets

  • Prepare each fried tofu pocket.
  • Gently squeeze out any excess liquid.

  • Carefully open the pocket to create space for the rice.

  • Using a spoon or small mold, shape the rice into bite-sized balls and stuff them inside the tofu pocket. (Tip: if you have a cookie dough scooper, try using it to make this step easier.)

  • Leave the top slightly open to show the rice — it looks extra appetizing!

Step 3: Garnish and Enjoy

  • Add your favorite toppings if you like — from tuna mayo to mini omelets or kimchi. Sprinkle sesame seeds or seaweed flakes on top.

  • Pair it with a fresh salad or a warm bowl of miso soup for a simple, balanced meal.
Yubuchobap’re delicious served fresh.
You can also pack them in a lunchbox or for a picnic.
